Professional Background

  • Over 20 years in senior leadership roles in Financial Services and more recently working as an independent consultant and coach, Dougie is highly experienced in the management of change and development of leaders

  • More than 10 years playing a key role in organisational design, culture and process transformation working with global teams. Prior to that held various leadership positions building a reputation for delivering outstanding performance by unleashing the potential of individuals and teams whilst transforming ways of working

  • Director/Trustee with Beith Community Development Trust, Dougie supports the charity to improve mental and physical health in the local area “one person at a time” through various activities including those related to sport, creative arts and wellbeing

Coaching Ethos

Dougie is passionate about helping people deliver incredible outcomes for themselves and others. He also recognises that sometimes there can be internal as well as external blockers to individuals creating positive change. His philosophy is that the role of a coach is to help clients understand and navigate these blockers allowing them to play to their unique strengths in achieving their goals. This includes achieving results that are important to their personal success and happiness and, where appropriate, the long- term success of their organisation.

 

For his coaching relationships to work, Dougie seeks approval from his clients at the outset to be challenging as well as supportive. He works with them to ensure that they agree clear and measurable actions that the client will take to help them achieve their goals.

  • Dougie has been coaching teams and individuals to deliver outstanding performance for over 20 years. As well as formal role responsibilities in people and leadership development, his passion for unlocking the potential in people has resulted in him mentoring and coaching numerous individuals at all levels including senior management

  • In roles working directly with executive level leaders, Dougie has a proven track record of providing sound counsel to senior individuals during periods of unprecedented business change

  • Recent coaching engagements at senior level include Director/Country Head of Distribution (USA) in a specialist Financial Services firm and a number of Principle Consultants working in a global Management & Technical Consultancy firm

  • Dougie works as a Senior Leadership Action Learning Group Facilitator (Common Purpose) using executive coaching techniques to support leadership cohort members complex explore leadership challenges. Cohort members have included senior leaders from the public, private and third sector
