Our People - Senior Consultants
Senior Consultants are associate consultants who have less than 5 years experience in our work but who have a key specialism that is of benefit to our clients. They attend regular development meetings, have experience of working with Taylor Clarke, share our company values and understand our core business models and delivery methods.
Sarah Ainley, (BSc Hons, MCIPD) - Senior Consultant
Sarah is familiar with Taylor Clarke both as a former client and as an Associate since 1998.
She has collaborated on development and introduction of behavioural competence programmes and leadership development for range of employees in Total UK. These programmes were aligned with Company Performance Management system.
Sarah also managed and ran successful Taylor Clarke programmes on managing change and retention of staff during an organisation merger between two similar sized and function oil & gas companies (Elf Enterprise and TotalFina).
As an Associate, she has acted as deputy project manager on Social Work Services Programme development and implementation of cohorts, specifically liaising with The Robert Gordon University, Heriot-Watt and The Fifth Business, plus partners Scottish Leadership Foundation and the Scottish Executive. Sarah has also coached managers in Glasgow Housing Association. She has been instrumental in developing the mentoring franchise in Taylor Clarke with David Clutterbuck and implementing training and accreditation of Taylor Clarke’s associates.
Sarah has multi-discipline experience, however she specialises in career development coaching/interventions and development generally. She has attained CIPD accreditation with specialist training and development modules, and is 16PF and Myers Briggs Step 1 accredited.
Alison Fenton, (MA, Pg Dip, ILM, CIPD) - Senior Consultant
An experienced and skilful consultant and facilitator who is able to understand and respond to customer needs and is used to managing projects, coaching, mentoring and group facilitation. Alison is committed to continuous personal & professional development, adept at using talent management and leadership tools to improve performance and build winning teams. She is a solution focused coach with good emotional intelligence that led the first department within the University of Glasgow to Investors in People accreditation. She also designed learning & assessment materials to gain centre accreditation to deliver Institute of Leadership & Management (ILM) awards and HNC awards. Alison is trained and experienced in the use of a variety of psychometric instruments, including OPQ, 16 PF, Hogan, MBTI Step 1 & 2 and FIRO Elements.
Jake Farr, (BSc, MSc, CPsychol) - Senior Consultant
Jake is a Chartered Occupational Psychologist with 16 years’ experience of working with people, teams and organisations in varied sectors, both locally and internationally. Her clients value her creative and human approach to organisational development and change where she takes a collaborative and practical role in the implementation of projects designed to create environments where people can flourish and succeed.
Rob McAlpine, (CIPD Grad) - Senior Consultant
Rob delivers a portfolio of customised leadership, management development and teambuilding events for a variety of clients. He also provides 1:1 executive coaching sessions for a number of senior executives. Previously he accepted an interim appointment with the Scottish Further Education Unit role as a Leadership and Development Specialist. Prior to this appointment Rob worked in an interim role as a Leadership Advisor in NCH – the children’s charity.
During 2001 - 2005, he was contracted as a Learning and Development Manager with the Department for Works and Pensions, which carried lead responsibility for designing and organising delivery of large-scale leadership development programmes. In his early career Rob was employed by Siemens Business Services as L&D specialist with a multi-national remit and Head of Learning and Development for National Savings.
Rob has been responsible for the development, practical formulation and implementation of learning and development policies and strategies and also led various performance management initiatives. He has extensive experience of change management, performance management, learning and development and industrial relations.
Liz Oldfield, (MA, B.Ed Hons, PG cert.) - Senior Consultant
Liz is an experienced specialist in individual and team development, qualified in the use of a range of analytical, psychometric and diagnostic tools. Her background in both educational and therapeutic roles has equipped her with the skills and experience to facilitate learning and development in 1:1, group and organisational settings. She has extensive experience as both an internal and external consultant in a wide range of organisations. Currently she combines a private consultancy role - focusing on Leadership Development, with her current NHS post - as the regional lead on Leadership and Management Development for North East Yorkshire and Northern Lincolnshire.
These roles have given her an awareness of current change issues, in particular in the NHS, as well as significant experience in Organisational Development and in designing, developing and delivering management and leadership development programmes.
David Smith, (BA Hons, MA) - Senior Consultant
David is a personal and organisational development specialist with over 20 years experience of working in partnership with individuals, teams and organisations to design and facilitate practical interventions aimed at improving performance. He has worked on initiatives involving the clarification of vision and values, team and leadership development, culture and change management for a variety of international businesses.
His UK and international consultancy experience includes working with staff at all levels where diversity and cultural differences figure strongly in the design and delivery of development interventions. His way of working is characterised by a partnership approach to problem-solving, creative approaches to experiential learning and dynamic interventions such as the use of professional actors in both skills development and awareness raising. Action Learning is an area of particular interest and expertise and has been integral to many recent development initiatives.
Expertise includes the design and introduction of action learning programmes within organisations, set facilitation and the support and development of facilitation skills within the organisation.
George Weir (MBA, T. Eng., MCMI) - Senior Consultant
George has a strong practical background derived through executive roles, consultancy, and interim management positions in both the public and private sectors. He also has extensive experience in SMEs and entrepreneurship. George now concentrates on leadership development, coaching, facilitation & training, and has experience internationally in Western & Eastern Europe, the United States, Canada, the Middle East, India and Africa. He has been associated with The Taylor Clarke Partnership since 1997.

Bob Reid BSc (Social Science) MBA - Senior Consultant
Bob is an organisation development consultant working with clients planning or managing change. He applies a holistic approach that respects individuals while recognising the impact of performance drivers from organisation culture, structure and key people processes.
Bob has been working with Taylor Clarke since 2002. His assignments have included employee surveys, senior management restructuring, role profile analysis, 360º and peer reviews and development of better aligned HR processes. Clients have included scotch whisky comapnies, banks, oil & gas companies and housing associations.
A recent major assignment was with the Taylor Clarke team in Yemen to support the successful start up of a major new liquid natural gas (LNG) plant. This was a crucial organisational development programme to establish a shared culture, promote key values and clarify behaviours for the multinational workforce.
Anne M. Houston - Senior Consultant
Anne has worked with Taylor Clarke since 2008 and brings with her over 25 years in the public sector in the areas of further education, regeneration and higher education. Anne has worked as Chief Executive of a medium-sized public sector organisation and in other senior management positions.
Anne is a qualified coach, MBTI and NLP practitioner and has worked with a number of clients including Glasgow City Council, The Wise Group, Astra Zeneca, Toshiba , Glasgow Housing Association, YMCA and a number of smaller regeneration agencies and voluntary organisations. She is a qualified social auditor and has a particular interest in supporting smaller, third sector organisations.
Anne’s areas of expertise include leadership development, leading change, coaching and Board development.
John Heywood - Senior Consultant
John has worked with Taylor Clarke for over two years and has been associated with development programmes at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office and with project management seminars in The Wood Group and The Fifth Business.
His principle areas of expertise include:-
• consultancy in programme and project management;
• developmental coaching and mentoring using a creative, challenging and structured approach aimed at improving self-awareness, effectiveness, performance, motivation, productivity and fulfilment;
• action learning facilitation for cross-functional, cross-sector managers; and
• facilitation of management teams working on projects, relationships, strategic planning, business continuity and change.

Joy Wilson (CLP, IITT, CIPD) - Senior Consultant
Joy is an experienced organisation development specialist with significant international operational and strategic change management experience gained in a wide range of commercial and developing organisations based in Europe, The Middle East and Africa. Joy has been an associate of Taylor Clarke since 2007. A member of the team involved in the Yemen LNG project a ground breaking, companywide management and cultural development programme Joy designed behavioural competency-based frameworks to reflect core values and to identify leadership standards for middle managers. Joy also developed an occupational standards framework with accompanying learning, development and assessment initiatives for administrative staff.
Joy is an accredited certified learning practitioner, she is committed to designing and delivering learning interventions that are immediately transferrable and enhance job performance.
Joy continues to work with clients in the oil, gas, nuclear, water and telecoms sectors in the Middle East and her UK clients include 02, Urenco, Coop Bank & the Fire Service.
