Our People - Senior Consultants

Senior Consultants are associate consultants who have less than 5 years experience in our work but who have a key specialism that is of benefit to our clients. They attend regular development meetings, have experience of working with Taylor Clarke, share our company values and understand our core business models and delivery methods.

Sarah Ainley, (BSc Hons, MCIPD) - Senior Consultant

Sarah has been an Associate with Taylor Clarke since 1991 and before that was a client of the Organisation very much involved with the design and implementation of behavioural competence and change programmes. Professionally she has been a Training and Development Manager, Project Engineer and Techical Training Advisor for a major Oil and Gas Company and prior to that a Senior Project and mechanical/manufacturing engineer within the Private Sector. Recently she has worked extensively in the outplacement coaching area, both delivering training programmes across all levels of staff and coaching senior and middle managers on an individual basis. Clients come mainly from the Public and Private Sectors.

Alec Brown, (MBA, BA Hons, FCIPD, FRSA) - Senior Consultant

Alec works on an associate basis with Taylor Clarke and also within the Higher and Further Education spheres. He covers a number of areas, including teambuilding, leadership development and 1:1 coaching using a range of experiential techniques across a range of sectors including finance and energy. In recent years much of his work has been in helping people in career development and transition, helping them deal with the changes this involves.

In addition, he works as an Associate Lecturer teaching and writing course materials (most recently on negotiation skills) with the OU Business School and is an External Moderator with the CIPD.

Euan Cowie, (BSc Hons, MBA) - Senior Consultant

Euan is a highly skilled Executive Coach and Organisational Development Consultant and with extensive international and UK experience. He is expert in the facilitation of change through 1:1 coaching, customer account management, the design and facilitation of learning and development programmes, and organisational consultancy.

He works with major organisations including Royal Bank of Scotland, HP, AstraZeneca, Nokia, SAP, SpecSavers, Shell and the MoD. Projects have included; in-depth executive coaching, the design and facilitation of highly successful leadership and management development programmes, team building events (including virtual team development), cultural understanding workshops and customer service programmes. He has also carried out high level consultancy support for the integration of two major high-tech companies and outplacement support for a major computer company.

Alison Fenton, (MA, Pg Dip, ILM, CIPD) - Senior Consultant

An experienced and skilful consultant and facilitator who is able to understand and respond to customer needs and is used to managing projects, coaching, mentoring and group facilitation. Alison is committed to continuous personal & professional development, adept at using talent management and leadership tools to improve performance and build winning teams. She is a solution focused coach with good emotional intelligence that led the first department within the University of Glasgow to Investors in People accreditation. She also designed learning & assessment materials to gain centre accreditation to deliver Institute of Leadership & Management (ILM) awards and HNC awards. Alison is trained and experienced in the use of a variety of psychometric instruments, including OPQ, 16 PF, Hogan, MBTI Step 1 & 2 and FIRO Elements.

Jake Farr, (BSc, MSc, CPsychol) - Senior Consultant

Jake is a Chartered Occupational Psychologist with 16 years’ experience of working with people, teams and organisations in varied sectors, both locally and internationally.   Her clients value her creative and human approach to organisational development and change where she takes a collaborative and practical role in the implementation of projects designed to create environments where people can flourish and succeed. 

Dr. Cameron Findlater, (BSc, PhD, MA) - Senior Consultant

Cameron is a Leadership and Management Development Consultant specialising in:

·          Facilitation of Leadership & Management Development

·          Facilitation of Change

·          Training in Executive Coaching (at Lancaster University Management School)

·          Executive Coaching

·          Research & Evaluation (With the Scottish Leadership Foundation & Lancaster University)

He currently commits two-thirds of his working time as Researcher in Leadership Development at the Scottish Leadership Foundation, and one-third to facilitating on large leader-leadership development programmes and coaching/developing coaches.

His coaching, facilitation and training increase performance and align development goals with those of the wider organisation and integrate consequent learning to enhance future capability.

Pauline Holland, (MA, MPhil) - Senior Consultant

Pauline works with individuals, groups and organisations to help them manage change and improve performance.  She has worked within the voluntary sector for the last 13 years where she has gained considerable experience in managing organisational change and development.  For the first six of those years she worked as Service Manager with Barnardos, where she had responsibility for setting up an innovative youth justice service.  She established a much respected service, working in partnership with the Local Authority Social Work Department and Children’s Hearing System and successfully secured long term funding for this initiative.    

For the last seven years she has worked as the Learning and Development Manager for Barnardos.  During this time Pauline transformed the department from a training section into a well established and highly valued internal OD and Consultancy service to meet the changing needs of senior managers and other internal customers.  Pauline now works as an independent consultant.

Malcolm Hutchinson, (MBA, BA) - Senior Consultant

Malcolm has considerable experience in change management, strategy development and organisational renewal particularly in the public sector.  He has contributed to large-scale, collaborative, strategic planning processes in single and multi-agency contexts in the UK and internationally.  His expertise includes managerial development, project management in complex environments and scenario and futures thinking.  Malcolm has developed a particular knowledge base in organisational learning, consultancy processes, organisational and leadership development and strategic thinking, combining practitioner and academic perspectives.  He has advised and facilitated senior management, policy makers and elected representatives at national and local governance levels.

Rob McAlpine, (CIPD Grad) - Senior Consultant

Rob delivers a portfolio of customised leadership, management development and teambuilding events for a variety of clients.  He also provides 1:1 executive coaching sessions for a number of senior executives.  Previously he accepted an interim appointment with the Scottish Further Education Unit role as a Leadership and Development Specialist.  Prior to this appointment Rob worked in an interim role as a Leadership Advisor in NCH – the children’s charity. 

During 2001 - 2005, he was contracted as a Learning and Development Manager with the Department for Works and Pensions, which carried lead responsibility for designing and organising delivery of large-scale leadership development programmes.  In his early career Rob was employed by Siemens Business Services as L&D specialist with a multi-national remit and Head of Learning and Development for National Savings.

Rob has been responsible for the development, practical formulation and implementation of learning and development policies and strategies and also led various performance management initiatives. He has extensive experience of change management, performance management, learning and development and industrial relations.

Liz Oldfield, (MA, B.Ed Hons, PG cert.) - Senior Consultant

Liz is an experienced specialist in individual and team development, qualified in the use of a range of analytical, psychometric and diagnostic tools. Her background in both educational and therapeutic roles has equipped her with the skills and experience to facilitate learning and development in 1:1, group and organisational settings.  She has extensive experience as both an internal and external consultant in a wide range of organisations. Currently she combines a private consultancy role - focusing on Leadership Development, with her current NHS post - as the regional lead on Leadership and Management Development for North East Yorkshire and Northern Lincolnshire.

These roles have given her an awareness of current change issues, in particular in the NHS, as well as significant experience in Organisational Development and in designing, developing and delivering management and leadership development programmes.

David Smith, (BA Hons, MA) - Senior Consultant

David is a personal and organisational development specialist with over 20 years experience of working in partnership with individuals, teams and organisations to design and facilitate practical interventions aimed at improving performance. He has worked on initiatives involving the clarification of vision and values, team and leadership development, culture and change management for a variety of international businesses. His UK and international consultancy experience includes working with staff at all levels where diversity and cultural differences figure strongly in the design and delivery of development interventions. His way of working is characterised by a partnership approach to problem solving, creative approaches to experiential learning and dynamic interventions such as the use of professional actors in both skills development and awareness raising.Action Learning is an area of particular interest and expertise and has been integral to many recent development initiatives. Expertise includes the design and introduction of action learning programmes within organisations, Set facilitation and the support and development of facilitation skills within the organisation.

Rachel Spooncer, (BSc, FREng, FIChemE, PCC) - Senior Consultant

Rachel has been working with senior managers and their teams to help them to develop their impact and leadership since 1999. Her main focus is 1:1 coaching and she also does group coaching and facilitation and team building. Her clients include United Utilities, Norwich Union, Urenco, NHS, Greater Manchester Passenger Transport Authority, Strutt and Parker and Siemens.

George Weir, (MBA, T.Eng, MCMI) - Senior Consultant

George has a strong practical background derived through executive roles, consultancy, and interim management positions in a variety of industry sectors.  George now concentrates on leadership development and coaching often working with the senior team to help them look at what is required of the business and of them to make a significant impact on results.  George specialises in change & knowledge management, restructuring and cultural change. He is particularly suited to executives who find his breadth of knowledge and challenging but supportive approach both stimulating and deeply rewarding. George has consulted/worked on projects throughout the UK and internationally in Western & Eastern Europe, the United States, Canada and Africa.
