Our People - Principal Consultants
Principal Consultants are associate consultants who demonstrate a wide range of appropriate skills and at least one specialism. They have a minimum of 5 years experience in our areas of work and have an additional minimum of 5 years experience as a senior manager, psychologist or human resource specialist. They are involved in the development of the business, attend regular meetings and share our company values. All Principals have worked regularly with Taylor Clarke, shadowed and have a thorough understanding of our core business models, delivery methods and current leadership thinking.
John Best, (HNC) - Executive Director & Principal Consultant
John is a pragmatic consultant who is very experienced in team mediation, leadership and management development. With over 20 years experience in the field, he has recently developed his practice in individual and team coaching in diverse fields such as education, uniformed services and self-employed start up businesses. As well as his continuing coaching of senior and middle managers in FMCG, oil & gas, public sector and manufacturing, John has extended his coaching knowledge and experience through formal education. He has also been exposed to working with complex, cross-cultural groups as part of an ongoing management development programme that runs in the UK, USA and Australia. John has also developed a successful method of helping people develop their influencing and persuasive skills through a person-centred approach which is noted for its self-discovery and practical application of skills and knowledge.
Euan Cowie, (BSc Hons, MBA) - Principal Consultant
Euan is a highly skilled Executive Coach and Organisational Development Consultant with extensive international and UK experience. He is expert in the facilitation of personal and organisational development through one-to-one coaching, the design and delievry of learning and development programmes, and organisational development consultancy.
He works with major organisations including Wood Group, The Foreign and Commonwealth Office, Department of Work and Pensions, Glasgow City Council, Royal Bank of Scotland, Nokia, TalkTalk The African Development Bank, Shell and the MoD. Projects have included in-depth executive coaching; the design and facilitation of highly successful leadership and management development programmes; team building events; cultural understanding workshops; customer service programmes and organisational development support..
Euan’s aim is to engage people with a combination of enjoyable experiential activities, practical theoretical ideas and facilitated discussion to explore the issues, find the key individual learning points, add real value and encourage growth.
Jonty Leicester, (MSc, C.Psychol, AFBPsS) - Principal Consultant
Jonty has been working with Taylor Clarke since 2005. He is a Chartered Occupational Psychologist who has specialised in both assessment and development throughout the first twenty five years of his career. He has worked both as a consultant as well as doing a stint as Head of Assessment at The Royal Bank of Scotland between 1997 and 2002. His areas of expertise include behavioural skills development, executive coaching, leadership and management development courses as well as top team facilitation, action learning sets and all areas of assessment, but in particular use of psychometric questionnaires such as the MBTI, 16PF5, FIRO-B and the Leadership Development Profile.
He has delivered both the band B and band C Management Development Programmes for the Foreign & Commonwealth Office. He is also a regular lead trainer on the Management Development Programme for Wood Group PLC.
He lives in Sweden, and works mainly within the UK. However, he has been involved in overseas work in the US, Singapore, Hong Kong, Dubai, Norway and in Sweden.
Dr Cameron Findlater, (BSc, PhD, MA) - Principal Consultant
Cameron is an effective, engaging, practical and outcomes-focused leadership and management development consultant who has considerable experience of working successfully with clients in the private and public sectors. He focuses on helping clients to enhance performance and have greater impact. He has a client-centred approach, focusing on strengths, alignment, and interconnections within organisations.
His effectiveness as a facilitator and coach, in interventions ranging from organisational to individual change/development, is underpinned by his ‘three-dimensional’ experience in consultancy, operational leadership/management with ‘blue-chip’ multinational companies, and applied leadership research.
Cameron has been an associate consultant with the Taylor Clarke Partnership since 2005. His main areas of expertise are:-

Mairi Maclean, (BA Hons, MSc, Dip Hum Psych) - Principal Consultant
Mairi is an experienced consultant who has worked with organisations throughout the UK. She has particular skills and abilities around whole systems working, change and personal development. She has excellent project management and communication skills and believes in fostering an open, inclusive relationship with clients. The main thrust of her work has been in facilitating people through times of change, to reflect on their current business and to consider how best to respond to the changing environment. Underpinning her facilitation skills is a robust knowledge of management and leadership. She has worked in partnership and independently.
Pauline Holland, (MA, MPhil) - Principal Consultant
Pauline has been an associate with The Taylor Clarke Partnership since 2007. She is an experienced consultant who works alongside individuals, groups and organisations to enable them to deepen their understanding of what makes them effective and helps them improve their performance and maximise their influence in their chosen field.
Pauline has over 20 years’ experience of supporting, leading and managing organisational change and development in public and voluntary sector organisations. On behalf of The Taylor Clarke Partnership, Pauline delivers both the Leadership and Internal Consultancy Skills programmes for a number of clients including the NHS, the Department for Work and Pensions and Glasgow City Council. She also provides bespoke team building/team development facilitation and other organisational development and change interventions for our clients.
For seven years before becoming an independent consultant, she worked as the Learning and Development Manager for Barnardos Scotland. During this time, Pauline transformed the department from a training section into a well-established and highly valued internal organisation development and consultancy service to meet the changing needs of senior managers and other internal customers.
Pauline’s skill is in enabling team and task group members to talk openly and honestly, surface different views and perspectives and to use these differences as a core strength for good decision making.
Jean Mellalieu, (MAML) - Principal Consultant
Jean has worked with Taylor Clarke since 2003. With extensive knowledge of the design, development and facilitation of Personal, Team, Management and Leadership Development Programmes, Jean's experience has been gained in a wide variety of areas including the NHS, Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs (HMRC), Department for Work and Pensions (DWP), Foreign and Commonwealth Office, Ministry of Defence, Scottish Social Care, University of Durham Business School, Universities of Newcastle, York and Teesside. She has also worked with the print, catering, manufacturing and voluntary sectors.
Joanne Nunn, (MA, BA Hons) - Principal Consultant
Jo is an experienced trainer, facilitator and accredited coach (International Coaching Federation). She has over ten years experience working with senior managers and top teams to develop leadership capability and high performing teams. She believes that organisations need energy and energy can only be generated by talented, motivated people who are developed in line with the organisation's ambitions. Jo is experienced in using a range of interventions and development strategies including; behavioural observation, psychometric analysis, development workshops, assessment centres, skills training and 1:1 coaching.
Jo has worked extensively within the financial services, media, and public sector services. Clients include: National Australia Group, NatWest, RBS Insurance, Network Rail, Diageo, Vodofone, Scottish Executive, Institute of Education,, NSPCC, Bayer Pharmaceuticals, Numico, Foreign and Commonwealth Office.
Dr George E Ralston (PhD, M.AppSci, BA (Hons), Dip Bus, MIMgt) - Executive Director & Principal Consultant
George has been with Taylor Clarke for over 18 years. His experience in the public and private sector places him in an excellent position to assist individuals, teams and organisations meet their needs. His special area of interest is in reducing the negative influences within individuals, teams and systems and combining this within a positive growth framework to create a dynamic approach to success. Over the years he has worked with many of our major clients both locally and further afield.
Susan Reid, (MA, FCIPD, MIMGT) - Principal Consultant
Susan is a well qualified and very experienced Human Resources professional operating at senior consultant level with over 20 years’ HR/Business experience at strategic and operational levels gained in a wide range of public (including NHS) and private sectors and with organisations going through significant change. She has a clear focus on integrating people development with business strategy and can work effectively with a wide range of people in teams or individually. Her training style is highly participative and she aims to develop the individual’s potential by raising their self-awareness and increasing their understanding of organisational and personal change.
Claire Reid, (BSc Hons, FCIPD) - Principal Consultant
Claire is an experienced Human Resource and Organisational Development professional and has held a number of senior HR management positions in both the public and private sectors for over 25 years. As HR Director, she played a significant role in the culture change programme within the Scottish Legal Aid Board (a NDPB) and over the past four years has been involved in the delivery and design of Scottish Executive’s ‘Leading to Deliver’ programme for Social Work Services. She is very experienced in working in academia both as an employee and as a consultant. She has proven organisational skills and ability to work with people at all levels. She has designed and delivered development activities for employees at all levels on a wide range of subjects for clients in the public, private and voluntary sectors.
Alastair Wyllie, (BA Hons, MBA, MCMI) - Principal Consultant
Alastair is an experienced Leadership Development, Change Management and Communications Consultant, Project Manager and Facilitator who works mostly with senior policymakers and officials in public, voluntary and not-for-profit organisations in the UK and Europe. Policy sectors have included social services, spatial planning and sustainable development, economic development, employment and incapacity, equal opportunities and age diversity, community and volunteer development, lifelong learning, public health, and drug treatment and rehabilitation. Alastair designs, produces and facilitates whole systems and participative approaches to stakeholder engagement, policymaking and implementation to create shared awareness and ownership of corporate vision, values and competences, and to promote and support individual roles and responsibilities in their achievement.
George Weir (MBA, T. Eng., MCMI) - Principal Consultant
George has a strong practical background derived through executive roles, consultancy, and interim management positions in both the public and private sectors. He also has extensive experience in SMEs and entrepreneurship. George now concentrates on leadership development, coaching, facilitation & training, and has experience internationally in Western & Eastern Europe, the United States, Canada, the Middle East, India and Africa. He has been associated with The Taylor Clarke Partnership since 1997.

Dr Allan Webster, (BD, PhD, FIMgt) - Principal Consultant
Allan is a principal consultant in leadership, strategy and organisation development, with a significant track record in public sector modernisation and transformation. He facilitates senior management in the development of a sustainable vision and strategy, thereby enabling them to ‘make sense’ of their business and its opportunities to their managers and staff. Allan is very effective in enabling teams and individuals, at every level in an organisation, to identify and accept the need for a significant shift in shared vision and to design and develop new ways of working to which teams show extraordinary commitment. He enables leaders to develop the ‘content’ of leadership and the strategic skills needed. He has a compelling understanding of how strategy, people, teams, services, processes and systems can be integrated to create and enable a modernised, public service organisation. He assists leaders and their teams to gain confidence and competence in the agenda of change.
Bill Roxburgh, (MA MSc MBA) - Principal Consultant
Bill is an experienced consultant with a background in educational and business psychology. He has delivered management and leadership development in the private, public and voluntary sectors. His facilitation style is to encourage psychologically safe but open adult-to-adult communication, to allow individuals to obtain maximum transferable benefit from the group experience.
