Taylor Clarke Burns Supper 2009- A Great Time Was Had by All

Irene and George

Following the success of last year’s event we once again chose the Brasserie in the Millennium Hotel in George Square, Glasgow, as the venue for this our 4th Annual Burns Supper.

Our 80 invited guests, staff and consultants enjoyed an evening of good food, wine and wonderful entertainment.

Our stars this year were

Martin McNaughton who delivered a heartfelt and enthusiastic Address to the Haggis following Laurence Clarke’s Selkirk Grace

Alistair Brown, fulfilled his promise made at last year’s event by sharing his Immortal Memory.  Alistair was closely followed by Iain Somerside our Financial Adviser who beautifully sang for us.

We were then totally enthralled by John Johnstone of Standard Life’s rendition of Tam O’Shanter which was so animated and word perfect.  This was certainly one of the evening’s highlights.  Another of course was provided by Robin Tait in his Toast to the Lassies.  His colleagues were well and truly impressed by Robin’s use of technology.  Where did you get those soundtracks Robin?

Robin’s wife Ailsa was terrific in her witty reply to the Toast.  There must be many a merry banter in the Tait household!

John Best, a great supporter at our Burns Suppers, sang for us again this year and encouraged us all to sing along with him.  It was then left to Laurence our ever capable MC (and MD) to wind up this part of the evening before the Ceilidh began.

We thoroughly enjoyed the music provided by Graeme Lindsay and his band and were all truly exhausted by the time we danced into the wee small hours.

Thanks to all who attended and contributed to the event's success.  Of course a big thanks to Rabbie Burns as in celebration of his 250th Anniversary a great night was had by all.

See you next year!
