SASHA - LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT (LEaDS PROGRAMME)

"Taylor Clarke has an operating ethos which I commend to you if you are seeking true partnership working.”                Paula Potter, Head of Organisational Development.

 Client Requirements

Following a rigorous tendering process, the two West Midlands Strategic Health Authorities, working in concert, commissioned us to design and deliver a leadership development programme (LEaDS), as part of the NHS National Management Development Initiative.  150 middle-senior managers had attended development centres, as the diagnostic phase of the programme.

Our Contribution

In conjunction with the senior Organisational Development team and the LEaDS Programme Manager, we initially designed three 2-day modules, to address the most pertinent development needs emerging from their development centre programme.

The development areas addressed included: strategic influencing, influencing the Board, boosting self-confidence and self-esteem, overcoming conflict, high level communication skills, self-awareness and improved interpersonal leadership skills.

We facilitated 12 workshops, involving some 90 participants (including Clinical Directors and Deputy Directors, and Clinical Leads) over a 9 month period.

Live change projects, influencing scenarios and leadership challenges were a key factor in helping the delegates gain immediate benefit from the application of new skills.

The Impact

All workshops have received very high participant ratings which point to our facilitation expertise and content knowledge.  Participants have reported positive changes in their leadership and change management skills with many events over subscribed.

Self awareness, confidence, change management skills and leadership style changes have been widely reported as making a real difference to many of the delegates faced with a period of particularly demanding change.

The success of the programme led to us being asked to design and deliver a 3 day leadership programme for 40 Community Matrons.

The quality of facilitation, flexibility and collaborative style and willingness of TCP to continuously evaluate impact and respond to delegate needs were recognised as being fundamental to this significant partnership.
